Your Skipper (if Skippered charter) & 1st Mate (if crewed)
Our Skippers are chosen for their manner and experience. They are all good personable guys, well experienced and enjoy teaching, imparting knowledge and will ensure you have the best time possible aboard. They have a raft of experience and know the best places to visit both off and on the water. Please discuss with them exactly what you want to get out of your time aboard. They may contact you in advance of your charter to discuss itinerary / moorings etc. People often ask what the Skippers like to eat. The Skipper / 1st Mate generally eat anything that they are given. If this is not the case we would inform you in advance.
Skipper / Mate Accommodation & Subsistence:
Please allow an aft cabin for the skipper sole use whilst aboard. It is sometimes possible for the skippers and crew to sleep ashore if required – this is at extra cost). Please provision for the Skipper / 1st Mate when aboard. (ie allow for all meals.)
It is not necessary for the skipper / 1st Mate to accompany you on a night out but if you do invite them to join you, please make it clear to the Skipper/ 1st Mate that you are covering their costs when with you. Alternatively, if you do not invite them to accompany you please allow the Skipper / 1st Mate £30 per night each to allow them to grab a meal and a beer ashore. £7.50 for breakfast.
The Skipper (& 1st Mate) are with you to keep you safe, the boat safe and impart knowledge / teach / mentor. They are not domestic servants and during your charter you are required to maintain good hygiene practices aboard and keep a ‘tidy ship’. They will do their bit to contribute to the effective and hygienic running of the boat. If you require someone to clean / cook for you we will do our best to supply a 1st Mate at extra cost.
Fuel:
If you return unable to fill up (unless you have pre-paid for fuel) there is a £30 service charge on top of fuel cost if we fill for you, and you have not paid in advance. If you have a Skipper charter the Skipper should be able to make sure the yacht is refilled.
Solent Use / Solent Fuel Charge: £20 per day Pre-paid fuel / advance fuel charge.
Fuel charge days relate and include the day that the yacht leaves the berth. (IE. a weekend where the yacht leaves the berth on Friday evening and returns Sunday afternoon would count as 3 days.) If you go beyond the Solent additional fuel charges may apply. Regardless of any fuel prepayment we may have to book a refuelling slot at the end of your charter so we may maintain fuel levels aboard the yachts.
Clean Down Fee: – Post Charter £110
Yachts must be returned clean. A clean down is 2.5hrs work. We suggest that all charterers should pay the clean down fee and not eat into their sailing time. This allows charterers to walk away at the allotted vacating time with their kit after they moor correctly, hook up shore electric and put the sails and canvass work up, remove toilet and household rubbish and belongings, wipe down the cooker & complete the washing up. Our staff will fill the water tanks, wash down decks, wash out cockpit, clean the fridge, clean the heads, wipe out cupboards, wipe wardrobes, disinfect head linings, hoover the carpet / sweep the boards, put the dehumidifier on and close down the 12v electric supply. Due to short turnaround times it is important that charterers vacate on time.
Yacht Security Deposit:
Charter Deposit £1,750 Groups Security Deposit £500 per yacht. This can be authorised on a credit card or bank transferred.
If you are required to provide a security deposit for your yacht charter then this will be collected by credit card and as a ‘pre-authorisation’ within 7 days of charter. If no damage is sustained then nothing will be processed and the ‘pre-authorisation’ on the card will fall away after approximately 12 days.
You will be liable for damage or loss incurred to the yacht and its ancillary equipment or to any third party yacht involved in an accident with your yacht and its equipment up to a maximum of the security deposit paid. If damage or loss occurs to a value lower than the security deposit you will be refunded your payment less the cost of repair. If damage or loss incurred exceeds the security deposit value, your payment will not be refunded but you will not be required to pay any additional costs. If you do not refuel your yacht after your charter, the cost of the fuel plus a service charge of £30 will be charged. Blocked toilets are included as damage. We aim to return the security deposit or any balance remaining after repairing any loss or damage to the yacht, her equipment and furnishings that occurred during the charter period, within 14 days of the return of the yacht to us at the end of your charter. You will not be liable for damage due to Skipper negligence if on Skipper charter.
Stag do / Hen night / Party Groups Security Deposit.
See above for damage. Reports of noise, disturbance & antisocial behaviour from the Harbour Master or Marina manager are taken seriously. Yachtforce have the right to withhold all or a portion of the security deposit and donate this to the RNLI if we have reports of this nature.
